Once you have decided you would like a static caravan holiday, there are a number of things you need to take into account before you can book.

The first thing to think about when planning your holiday is about where you would like to go. Most coast lines and country areas have a number of static caravan sites to choose from. Would you like to go exploring to a place you've never been before, with mountains and forests or beaches and dunes? Or would you prefer somewhere near a town where you can sample the local foods and wines and do some shopping? Consider all your options before you make your decision.

Next you need to confirm how many people there will be. Static caravans come in a number of sizes from small one bedroom to large four or five bedrooms. When you look on the caravan parks website or brochure you will be shown a floor plan of each of their static caravans.

These lay out exactly how the caravan is set up and will show how many people they can sleep, as they often have further pull out beds or sofa beds. If there are many of you; you may want to consider hiring two smaller static caravans instead of one larger one where you are more likely to get in each others way. Talk these things through with the proprietor of the caravan park.

Facilities available at static caravan parks vary greatly, so make sure that you read all the information about the park before you book, so that you will not be disappointed when you arrive to find no pool.

Some camps offer the bare minimum, maybe a small supplies shop and an information point. These are well suited to people who just want to get away from it all and relax. Other parks offer all the facilities you could possibly imagine you would need to enjoy your holiday from twenty-four hour entertainment to indoor and outdoor pools, children's activities and crazy golf. Think about the kind of holiday you want and then find the right camp to suit your needs.

Consider how you are going to get to your chosen holiday destination. Depending upon where you are going you may need to book flights or trains and buses.

Make sure you know how to reach the park from the airport or bus station as they can often be off the beaten track. Probably the best way, if possible, is to drive there yourself as this means you will have plenty of boot space for all your belongings and will have the advantage of having a vehicle to get around and explore. If this is not possible, definitely consider hiring a vehicle when you arrive.
